授業の目的と概要
To develop the ability to use English as a tool for communication, this course emphasizes practical speaking and listening skills rather than mere knowledge acquisition. Compared to "English Conversation I," this course places greater emphasis on accurate and fluent language use.

Students will focus on improving the following abilities:

・ The ability to sustain a conversation for several minutes on specific topics of personal interest.
・ The ability to ask a variety of questions using relative pronouns and to paraphrase unfamiliar words.
・ The ability to exchange key information (such as when, where, who, what, why, and how) relatively smoothly in English.
・ The ability to respond to a conversation partner by asking questions, making comments, and using backchanneling cues appropriately.

・ Acquire foundational skills to use English as a global communication tool and develop the ability to actively engage in conversations, discussions, and presentations.         
・ Skills and Expressions: Able to engage in conversations and exchange information in relatively accurate and fluent English by using various questions, backchanneling, comments, and paraphrasing on topics of personal interest and concern.
授業計画
【全体】
In this course, TOEIC preparation will be conducted in the first week.
By listening to native English speakers discuss things that are important in their lives students will become better able to talk about the things that matter to them.

第1回 TOEIC Practice Complete Part 1 to Part 4 in TEST 2 from TOEIC Official Practice Test 11. Approximately 1 hour of study, including TOEIC E-learning.
第2回 Getting to Know You Students will introduce themselves to each other and the teacher in English. Approximately 1 hour of study, including TOEIC E-
learning.
Students will write a short self-introduction in English.
第3回 Relationships Students will listen to native speakers talking about relationships and will practice using useful expressions in the context of their own lives. Approximately 1 hour of study, including TOEIC E-learning.
Students will write sentences to describe their own relationships using expressions learned in class.
第4回 Identity Students will listen to speakers talking about their identity and will practice using useful expressions in the context of their own lives. Approximately 1 hour of study, including TOEIC E-learning.
Students will write sentences to describe their identity using expressions learned in class.
第5回 Advice Students will listen to speakers giving advice and will adopt useful expressions to use for themselves. Approximately 1 hour of study, including TOEIC E-learning.
Students will write a paragraph of English to give advice on a topic supplied by the teacher.
第6回 Family Students will listen to speakers describe their families and will adopt useful expressions to use for themselves. Approximately 1 hour of study, including TOEIC E-learning.
Students will write sentences to describe their family using expressions learned in class.
第7回 Decisions Students will listen to speakers describe decisions they need to make and will adopt useful expressions to use for themselves. Approximately 1 hour of study, including TOEIC E-learning.
Students will write a paragraph of English to describe a big decision they made in their life.
第8回 Language Students will learn about global English. Approximately 1 hour of study, including TOEIC E-learning.
Students will write a paragraph explaining their thoughts about global English.
第9回 Personality Students will listen to speakers discuss their personality and students will adopt expressions for their own use. Approximately 1 hour of study, including TOEIC E-learning.
Students will write a paragraph to describe their personality using expressions from the textbook.
第10回 Technology Students will listen to speakers discuss technology and students will adopt expressions for their own use. Approximately 1 hour of study, including TOEIC E-learning.
Students will write a paragraph to describe how they use technology in their lives.
第11回 Living Situations Students will listen to speakers discuss their living situations and students will adopt expressions for their own use. Approximately 1 hour of study, including TOEIC E-learning.
Students will write a paragraph to describe their current living situation.
第12回 Survival Students will listen to speakers discuss survival situations and students will adopt expressions for their own use. Approximately 1 hour of study, including TOEIC E-learning.
Students will write a paragraph to explain their experience of survival.
第13回 Lifestyle Students will listen to speakers discuss lifestyles and students will adopt expressions for their own use. Approximately 1 hour of study, including TOEIC E-learning.
Students will write a paragraph to explain their lifestyle.
第14回 Travel Students will listen to speakers discuss travel situations and students will adopt expressions for their own use. Approximately 1 hour of study, including TOEIC E-learning.
Students will write a paragraph to explain their experience of travel.
第15回 Work Students will listen to speakers discuss work situations and students will adopt expressions for their own use. Prepare for the final test
第16回 Final Test The final test will include a listening and a reading section. To continue studying English until the start of the second semester.

成績評価法
・ Grades will be strictly assessed based on regular examination results, performance evaluations, TOEIC scores, and additional points from E-learning progress.
・ Speaking and listening each account for 50% of the overall course evaluation.
・ Students who are absent four or more times or who do not take the TOEIC L&R IP test in July will be ineligible to receive credit for the class. (If a student is unable to take the TOEIC test due to unavoidable circumstances, they must contact the Academic Affairs Office at the Educational Support Division by the end of the test registration period on the exam day as a general rule.)
