授業の目的と概要

This lecture will provide an overview of topics in sociology. By learning about what kinds of research sociologists have conducted, as well as summaries of famous papers and theories, you will acquire basic knowledge and perspectives on sociology.

授業の到達目標


Students will acquire basic knowledge of sociology, social psychology, cultural anthropology, and folklore, and develop the ability to discover, analyze, and consider issues in modern society.

We will pick up one theme per week and explain sociological findings related to that theme.

Works by Benedict Anderson, Eric Hobsbawm and others

Let's think about what kinds of systems, entertainment, and art are based on nationality　and review the lesson after class

Leisure

Introduction to Corbin's "The advent of leisure" etc.

Think about the difference between how you spend your days off and weekdays.

第7回

Eating and drinking

Introduction to domestic and foreign food culture theory

Let's think about the unique way humans eat and drink, which is not seen in other animals　and review the lesson after class.

Transportation facilities

Introduction to Schivelbusch's "The Railway Journey" etc.

Think about how you look out the window while traveling by train, and review the lesson after class.
