授業の目的と概要
 What we think about and are interested in every day, and conversely, what we are not convinced about, are actually connected to "academics". In this seminar, we will think carefully about the connection between ourselves and academia with our fellow students and discuss and search for answers. In other words, questions, favourite things and obsessions in daily life are very important, and it is important to have the attitude to face that "internal problem consciousness.
 The way of proceeding with Seminar I is constructed based on a long-term plan until graduation. First, in the second year (Seminar I), students learn about as many social issues as possible and understand the background of those issues. In the third year (Seminar II), students read literature and research, report and discuss in seminars, to clarify their own awareness of the issues. Then, in the second half of the third year or the fourth year, you will complete your own thesis, based on your social research.
 The attitude required in this seminar is "the courage to expose oneself" and "the sense of ownership to create the seminar" in the seminar.
For reference, my research areas are an ageing society, social policy, care, community, work-life balance, gender, and identity.
授業の到達目標
The goal of Exercise I is to be exposed to as many social problems as possible and to deepen one's understanding of the background as to why they are being addressed as social problems (mastery of sociological thinking).
授業計画
【全体】
To achieve General Objectives 1 and 2 of the class, we will read together literature on various contemporary social issues throughout the year. Each time, you will read a piece of literature that is close to your own interest and report on it, after which the whole seminar will discuss the topic. At the end of the term, students are expected to submit a report to achieve the third general objective of the class. Also, if there are opportunities to hold community activities, you will be actively involved in planning and organizing them by yourself.

I will not give you a research theme, so it is essential that you have a proactive attitude to take on the challenge of finding a theme you want to pursue on your own. I hope to create a fun atmosphere in the seminar where we can exchange opinions actively and frankly.
