To understand the radiation and transmission of electromagnetic waves and their propagation in waveguides, and to understand how electromagnetism is useful in the real world. The contents of the class (including videos of last year's class) will be posted on Moodle3, so please use it to prepare for and review the class.
Understand that electromagnetic waves are composed of electric and magnetic fields satisfying Maxwell's equation by deriving the wave equation. 2. to understand the basic characteristics of electromagnetic waves, as well as reflection and transmission characteristics. 3. to understand the vectorial nature of electromagnetic waves through the conversion of linear and elliptical polarization. 4. understand how to solve excitation problems using vector potentials and scalar potentials. 6. to understand the outline and impedance of high frequency lines. 7. to understand the electromagnetic field in an optical waveguide. To understand the mode distribution of electromagnetic field in optical fiber.

備考
In the latter half of the course, explanations on optical waveguides and optical fibers will be given not in the textbook but in handouts. At that time, the above books available in the library will be helpful.
After the second class, the handouts to be used in the next class will be distributed as much as possible, so it is recommended to prepare for the class for the specified time (about 1/2 of the time stated in the “Preparation and Review” section) by using the handouts. Students are required to solve and understand the problems at the end of the textbook chapters by themselves. If you are not confident in your understanding of the course or if you have difficulty understanding any of the end-of-chapter problems, you are encouraged to contact your instructor closely to resolve any doubts you may have each week. Since grades are based on the final exam, the course may seem difficult for students who do not attend class or who do not try to listen and understand even if they do attend class. If you listen to the class seriously and review well with the knowledge of mathematics and physics you have learned so far, the lecture is not so difficult.
