Students will develop the ability to accurately understand and apply mechanical drafting rules based on international standards (JIS), correctly represent design intentions such as tolerances and surface finishes using CAD, and interpret and convey the meaning of technical drawings.
Through CAD drafting, students will learn to calculate and accurately represent critical design information such as planar features, geometric tolerances, and gear module dimensions. They will also acquire the skills to decompose 3D shapes into 2D CAD drawings, taking manufacturing processes into consideration, and evaluate these drawings for completeness and accuracy.
The course aims to foster an interest in everyday mechanical systems, such as automobiles, bicycles, and vacuum cleaners, helping students understand how the specialized knowledge of mechanical engineering is connected to tangible products through drafting. This understanding will further enhance their interest and motivation in the field of mechanical engineering.
Students will also learn that incomplete, unclear, or potentially misleading drawings can exist, even in CAD drafting. They will develop an attitude of striving to create clear, accurate, and well-structured drawings that effectively communicate the required information.
By mastering drafting techniques and proper use of CAD tools, students will gain the skills needed to produce professional, precise, and visually appealing technical drawings in accordance with drafting standards.
