It is surveyed about a removal processing method in this lecture. This lecture will help you to understand the principles, methods and processing machines about various removal processing. You will also understand the names and how to use of a tool and a processing machine. In addition, it will be able to understand the each processing method, which can fabricate or not for each shapes. It is aimed to develop the ability that you can choose a suitable processing method for the shape that you want to produce.

Perspective of Knowledge and Understanding 1.Understand the history, principles, and methods of machine manufacturing technology and be able to apply them. 2.Explain the characteristics of each manufacturing technology, as well as the shapes that can and cannot be produced. 3.Describe the overall process of machine manufacturing technology.
Perspective of Thinking and Judgment 1.Select the appropriate manufacturing technology for the desired shape. 2.Analyze the manufacturing technology used in existing products. 3.Propose a manufacturing process that combines different manufacturing technologies.

Perspective of Skills and Expression 1.Conduct appropriate information gathering on existing products. 2.Accurately describe changes in product shape during the manufacturing process. 3.Use diagrams to clearly represent three-dimensional shapes and provide appropriate explanations in writing, even for non-specialists such as designers.

Evaluation will be based on the results of two reports, quizzes, and the final exam. The total score is 100 points, consisting of 10 points for quizzes, 30 points for reports, and 60 points for the final exam. A passing score is 60 points or higher.
Additionally, attending at least two-thirds of the lectures and taking the final exam are mandatory requirements.
Attendance will also be determined based on quiz participation.
Grading Breakdown: Quizzes: 10% Reports: 30% Final written exam: 60%

If they do not have a real experience, it may be hard to have the interest in this lecture, but I want to be interested and to learn it because of learning a basic method of the machining. The shape that can be produced depends on a machining method. If, therefore, they do not know the machining method at the time of design, they may make a mistake that they design the machine having the shape and precision that are cannot be processed. This is an important subject for designing a machine.
