授業の目的と概要

This course is open to both the FGSS and the international exchange students. Working in groups, the students are expected to enhance their intercultural communication skills to collaborate with people with different cultural backgrounds. Each group consists of about ten FGSS and a few international students with an instructor, who takes the role of a facilitator. Japanese and English will be the main languages used in class.
The course mainly focuses on discussion activities. Throughout the academic term, both the FGSS and the international students will work together via interactive activities to develop their practical communication skills.

授業の到達目標

Both the international exchange students and the FGSS ones are expected to achieve the following points by communicating with each other:
1) One leans to communicate by fully make use of his/her communicating skills such as Japanese, foreign languages, body languages and some tools;
2) One is expected to communicate with the others fairly by not being caught by the others' nationality;
3) One becomes to know both fun and difficulties of putting together people with various backgrounds by taking into consideration his/her position and behavior and;
4) One is to enhance the level of cultural sensitivity by knowing the way of other thinking and reviewing his/her own sense of value.

Over eight weeks, eight teachers will carry out activities to reflect "multicultural communication" from eight different perspectives.
