授業の目的と概要
This course is for Faculty of Global and Science Studies (FGSS) students interested in collecting data for their graduation projects (PBL) in English. Participants should have at least a rough idea for a research topic they would like to conduct fieldwork on that they can share in the first class. We will mainly practice survey writing and interviewing. Students will have opportunities to share and receive peer feedback on a research project.

This is an English communication class for students with an English level of CEFR B2 or above. Participation in each class is required to pass this course.

The maximum number of students who can take this class is 15.

- Give an overview of your PBL project in English
- Create a short research survey
- Plan a research interview
- Choose an appropriate research method for a topic of interest, collect data, and report on the results
授業計画
【全体】
In Week 1, we will go over the aims of the course and share our research topic interests.

In Week 2, we will learn about various methods of data collection and think about an appropriate method for your topic of interest. Students will work on their own short research project during the course and share the results in Weeks 7 and 8.

In Weeks 3 and 4, we will learn about survey writing and create a plan for your own survey.

In Weeks 5 and 6, we will learn about research interviewing and share your ideas for an interview about your research topic.

In Weeks 7 and 8, students will report on the results of their own research project.

成績評価法
Assessment is based on weekly assignments, class participation, and a final presentation and report.

Attendance and participation for each class is required to pass this course.
