メディア授業とは,メディアを利用して遠隔方式により実施する授業の授業時数が,総授業時数の半数を超える授業をいいます。 メディア授業により取得した単位は,卒業要件として修得すべき単位のうち60単位を超えないものとされています。

Globalization has increasing effects on the world today, as do international efforts to improve the health of the world’s populations. By working together internationally and nationally health care professionals can develop integrated policies, systems and standards to enhance health care delivery and strive to attain health for all.

The goal of this subject is to enable students to learn about international health care and medicine. Understanding of this will assist in advancement of their knowledge and skills as leaders in Japan, and ultimately to understand how they can further contribute to health care internationally.
|
|
|
|
This Subject has 2 credits and will be delivered via 3 seminars and some additional class (A total of 22.5 hours in actual time).
International Health Care and Medicine will be taught in English. Classes will take the form of interactive lectures and seminars, with students expected to contribute and share their ideas and findings from group work and classroom presentations. International speakers and local experts will be invited to share their knowledge and expertise, as appropriate.

MASTER
ASSIGNMENT 1. (40%) A presentation on a topic of interest of own discipline.
The choice of topics: To identify some areas that really interest you in practice. Then, discuss and negotiate with the subject lecturer before finalizing your
assignment topic.
Depending on the number of students enrolled in this subject, the presentation will be around 20-30 minutes (including 10 minutes of Question and Answer).
Examples of some potential topics:
• Interprofessional education and practice
• Precision and personalized medicine
• Use of artificial intelligence in health care
• Gender and health
• Racism, discrimination and health care
• Health literacy and health promotion
About Presentation to Class
Students will choose their topic in consultation with Professor XX. More information will be given in class. Presentation will be marked on:
1. Good introduction, description and discussion of the international health issue and a sound conclusion with recommendations for change (20%)
2. Description of implications for practice of student (laboratory science or nursing) 10%
3. Evidence of original thinking (15%)
4. Evidence of research for topic and accurate information (10%)
5. Good referencing system of material (references must be accurate and contemporary preference is for last 1-3 years) (5%)
ASSIGNMENT 2. (40%) Case studies
In class, the students will work on some case studies in groups. Then, they will be assigned with one of the case studies, and they have to write a report on the
description of the main issues of the case presented.
ASSIGNMENT 3. Class Participation and minimal home assignment (20%)
This will not be an assignment per se. But 20% of the subject requirement will be allocated to class participation and completion of home assignments. In higher
education institutes, students are expected to participate actively in class.

STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Every student is expected to undertake broad readings on the class topic before class by exploring the internet for the topic and reading relevant literature. 2. Students are expected to attend all classes and no less than 80% attendance: Prolonged unexplained absence may result in an automatic Fail Grade (D) and in some cases a medical certificate will be required. 3. Students should never copy someone else’s work as this will result in a Fail Grade. Take special care of your referencing to make sure you always provide correct information.
SUMMARY: Final grade for International Health and Medicine will be assessed by: 1. Class participation and some minimal home assignments: 20% 2. Presentation to class: 40% 2. Final written assignment (case study): 40%
GRADING SYSTEM: Superior = S = 90-100; A = 80-89; B =70-79; C = 60-69; Fail = F = Below 60 If you fail your assignments the decision to give a compensatory assignment rests with Prof Lai. It is not automatic that this is given.

1. Clearly state your name, student number, and the course title in the cover page (1st page of your assignment). 2. Please back-up your assignment while working on it and keep an e-copy in case an assignment is lost in cyberspace. 3. Please observe the citation format according to the 7th edition of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (APA) when formatting your assignment before submission. 4. If students did not receive an acknowledgement of the receipt of the submitted assignment, please email the teacher again to make sure that your submission has reached the teacher. 5. Plagiarism is a serious offense in academia. Please write the assignment in your own words and duly acknowledge your source. As in all higher institutions, there will be penalty for plagiarism. Either marks will be deducted, or a failure grade will be accorded pending on the seriousness of the offense.
