授業の目的と概要

Practical proficiency in scientific English will be developed through the preparation of abstracts, posters, and presentation slides assuming participation in an international conference. In addition, communication skills will be cultivated through presentations. This course is related to the ability “to solve problems collaboratively and explain them logically (DP3)” in the Earth Science Course of the Department of Earth-Life Material Sciences (Master’s Program).

授業の到達目標

Acquire English sentence structures and expressions frequently used in academic journals and oral presentations.
Be able to prepare presentation materials such as posters and slides in English.
Be able to introduce one’s own research in English and discuss it with others in English (DP3).

（1）Understand typical expressions and grammar used in scientific English.
（2）Be able to read and write Earth science terminology in English.
（3）Be able to accurately understand the content of Earth science papers.
（4）Actively participate in class and engage in discussions.

授業計画

【全体】

Prepare abstracts, posters, and presentation slides related to one’s own research in English under the supervision of the academic advisor.
Give presentations using the prepared materials.
