The knowledge of synthetic organic chemistry is indispensable for synthesizing organic compounds such as pharmaceuticals and functional materials. In the lecture, the important and latest synthetic methodologies will be presented. You are required to improve your synthetic knowledge through problem sets. By taking this class, you can obtain fundamental knowledge as a specialist in synthetic organic chemistry.

To be able to understand the basic methodologies used in modern synthetic organic chemistry. To be able to draw a reasonable reaction mechanism for each transformations. To be able to propose a reasonable synthetic route for target molecules.

The main topic of this class is important and latest methodologies for chemical synthesis of organic molecules at the graduate school level. The lectures will be given along with the textbook with a projector. Quiz will be given at the beginning of the every lectures to encourage your study at home. Attendance will be checked by submission of the quiz answer sheet.
As far as the number of students is within the capacity of the lecture room specified by the guidelines of Yamaguchi University, face-to-face classes will be held. Online classes may be held depending on the situation. The change will be announced by Shugaku-shien system (e-mail).
