This course will cover the essential skills required for making and delivering technical presentations in English at a professional academic level. Classes are divided into two types; LEARN and DO, allowing students to learn the target vocabulary, grammar, and contents before applying them using a variety of presentations skills in the next class in a small group setting. Throughout the course, students will make a full academic presentation one part at a time and deliver it on the final week of class. In doing so, students will understand the key components of technical presentations and develop the confidence and language abilities to perform them in an international context.

The course is composed on units that cover specific parts of a technical presentation in the basic order they appear in the presentation. These units are divided into two parts: LEARN and DO. The first week of each unit (LEARN) will focus on the necessary content and language through an example presentation, while the next week (DO) will allow students to perform the parts they created, get feedback from other students, and assess their progress by comparing their work to that of their classmates.
Students will be required to complete an online assignment each week using the Moodle 3 system. For the LEARN weeks, this consists of answering basic questions about the example text. For the DO weeks, students will need to submit the text for the part of the presentation being covered that week so that they can use it to practice their presentation skills.
In addition, there will be three short vocabulary quizzes throughout the semester to test the students' acquistion of target vocabulary introduced in the course.
