授業の到達目標
1. Fundamental Understanding of Natural Disasters
Explain the mechanisms and characteristics of major natural disasters worldwide (earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanic eruptions, heavy rainfall, slope failures, compound disasters, etc.).
Discuss the social and economic impacts of these disasters in relation to regional characteristics.

2. Understanding and Application of Remote Sensing (S.R.S.)
Describe the principles and observation methods of remote sensing.
Explain how remote sensing is applied to disaster monitoring, prediction, and damage assessment.
Evaluate the advantages and limitations of satellite data in disaster management.

3. Comprehensive Understanding of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation
Understand the fundamental concepts of disaster prevention and mitigation.
Explain appropriate measures during both normal times and emergency situations.
Describe the role and importance of disaster information systems.
Explain the significance and vulnerability of critical infrastructure during disasters.

4. Risk and Vulnerability Analysis
Explain the components of disaster risk (hazard, exposure, and vulnerability).
Assess community vulnerability and propose risk reduction strategies.

5. International and Societal Perspectives
Explain the importance of international cooperation in disaster management.
Analyze lessons learned from pandemics and other large-scale disasters and discuss future challenges.

6. Response to Compound Disasters
Describe the characteristics of compound and cascading disasters.
Propose integrated disaster management strategies for complex disaster scenarios.

7. Practical and Analytical Skills

Integrate knowledge acquired in the course to analyze real disaster cases.
Present logical, evidence-based proposals for disaster risk reduction.

メッセージ
Natural disasters are on the rise. In order to minimize the damage caused by natural disasters, it is essential to know, fear, and prepare for natural disasters correctly. In this lecture, we will explain the mechanism of various natural disasters, the extent of the damage, and how to respond to them. In order to reduce disasters, it is important to take measures in advance. At the same time, it is important to grasp the damage situation as soon as possible when a disaster occurs. Satellite remote sensing, which is effective for this purpose, will also be discussed. I hope that you will develop disaster prevention skills through this lecture.
