授業の目的と概要
This work aims to consolidate the fundamentals of tumor immunology and tumor metabolism—including glycolysis, lactate metabolism, hypoxia response, lipid metabolism, amino acid metabolism, and iron metabolism—to deepen the understanding of immune cell regulation within the tumor microenvironment (TME/TIME). Furthermore, it reviews the impact of metabolism on therapeutic response, resistance, and adverse events in clinical applications such as immune checkpoint blockade, cytokine therapy, cancer vaccines, and cellular therapy, ultimately bridging these insights to research and clinical practice in veterinary medicine.

To evaluate and analyze oncology from an immunological perspective.
To pursue my strong interest in tumor immunometabolism, firmly rooted in a clinical viewpoint.
授業計画
【全体】
To systematically study tumor immunology and immunometabolism using Immuno-Pedia (Yodosha), Cancer Immuno-Pedia (Yodosha), Standard Immunology (Igaku-Shoin), and recent scientific literature. For each session, students/participants will read the designated papers (reviews/original articles) or assigned pages from the reference books and submit an A4-sized report summarizing the key points, including the background, hypothesis, methods, results, limitations, and future directions.

第2回 Tumor metabolic reprogramming Learn about the Warburg effect, metabolic plasticity, and more. Complete one hour of preparatory study in accordance with the lesson plan.
第3回 T cell metabolism and function Learning about activation, exhaustion, memory, and mTOR/AMPK Complete one hour of preparatory study in accordance with the lesson plan.
第4回 Metabolism of tumor-associated macrophages/myeloid cells Learn the fundamentals of immunosuppressive cells. Complete one hour of preparatory study in accordance with the lesson plan.
第5回 Lactate metabolism and immunosuppression Study metabolism and immunosuppression, focusing on MCT1/4, acidic environments, and lactate metabolism. Complete one hour of preparatory study in accordance with the lesson plan.
第6回 Hypoxic response and immunity Study the HIF pathway, blood vessels, invasion, and related aspects regarding the items listed on the left. Complete one hour of preparatory study in accordance with the lesson plan.
第7回 Lipid Metabolism and Immunity Learn the concepts of FAO, lipid peroxidation, and ferroptosis regarding the items listed on the left. Complete one hour of preparatory study in accordance with the lesson plan.
第8回 Amino acid metabolism Study the topics listed on the left, focusing on Gln, Trp/IDO, Arg, Ser/Gly, and others. Complete one hour of preparatory study in accordance with the lesson plan.
第9回 Iron metabolism, redox, and cell death Learn about the topics listed on the left, focusing on ROS and ferroptosis. Complete one hour of preparatory study in accordance with the lesson plan.
第10回 Immune Checkpoints and Metabolism Regarding the topics listed on the left, the study will focus on PD-1/PD-L1, CTLA-4, and metabolic reprogramming. Complete one hour of preparatory study in accordance with the lesson plan.
第11回 Cytokine Therapy and Metabolism Study the topics listed on the left, focusing on aspects such as toxicity and metabolism, with particular attention to IL-2, IL-12, and related substances. Complete one hour of preparatory study in accordance with the lesson plan.
第12回 Radiation, Chemotherapy and metabolism Learn about immunogenic cell death. Complete one hour of preparatory study in accordance with the lesson plan.
第13回 Case Studies in Veterinary Oncology: Immunometabolism in Canine and Feline Tumors Study the topics listed on the left, focusing on the latest research papers. Complete one hour of preparatory study in accordance with the lesson plan.
第14回 Biomarker and Translational Research Study the topics listed on the left, focusing on the latest research papers. Complete one hour of preparatory study in accordance with the lesson plan.
第15回 Overview: How to Formulate a Research Hypothesis Present individual research topics. Complete one hour of preparatory study in accordance with the lesson plan.
