授業の目的と概要
This course aims to argue strategy formation and its implementation for open innovation. Firms should strategically design and manage the relationship with other entities as business gets increasingly open. The lecture discuss contemporary open innovation paradigm in comparison with the closed one. It also examines organizational structure and capabilities which facilitate open innovation. National/regional policies which promote open innovation are discussed. R&D outsourcing, corporate venturing and IP issues are analyzed in the context of open innovation.

授業計画
【全体】
This course first argues the taxonomy of innovation models and explain open innovation with respect to the innovation model evolution. The backgrounds and reasons many companies have changed their innovation paradigm are also discussed. It accompanies the lecture on strategy development and implementation for open innovation including the topics such as organizational design and culture, leadership and IP management with reference to prominent cases. The metrics for measuring the readiness of organizations for open innovation are discussed based on the preceding argument.
 Open innovation implies transformation from Porternian complete and self sufficient value chain type business model to networked and flexible business model (i.e. industry ecosystem). The students will understand the configuration of a business model and develop the one given open innovation.
The course also invites IP expert and discuss how open innovation alter company IP strategy (TBD).
 The order of and time spent for each module may change contingent on the students' interests and backgrounds.
